Lately, I’ve been hooked with watching K-Dramas to unwind myself and at the same time give my mind something to think about because adulting hits so hard and you really need to take a little break time after time. Since I can’t honestly finished a book, so I tried to watch series (credits to my best friend), and maybe it is worth it because Koreans are totally artistic and you’ll totally get something through watching their dramas.
Below are my list of recommendation if you are into K-Dramas or in search of something that will drive you out of your boredom and tired consciousness.
1. Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart: Ryeo
Of all the series that I’ve watched, this is my most favorite (so far). Aside from being, historical this also gives my emotion a roller coaster ride. The story centers on the Korea’s unification of Goryeo and a girl from the present reincarnated to the past to see life in the perspective of her ancestor.
Watching this, you can ponder that no matter what your life there is always hardship. You can also savor the things you have today that people don’t have in the past: freedom and human rights. It also demonstrated that ever since the world begun people have that greed for power and how dirty and deadly politics can be.
Of course, this is also a romance story that will make you believe that love conquers all, even the past and the present. LOL. Just watch the series I don’t want to be a spoiler to brag what happened with Wang So and Hae Soo. This is a total tearjerker, not just of the lovestory but also because it talks about the PALACE and it’s rule.
This one is an underrated drama, but this is a really good one. Very, very, very excellent series. Signal is not your ordinary detective story because it transcends the past and the present. It narrates the story of two police officer, one lives in the past the other lives in the present and they are going to be connected through a radio transmitter, together they are going to solve the mystery within cold cases and fight against impunity and injustice.
Watching this series makes me tremble because there are creepy scenes where sometimes you’ve got see a face to face encounter with corpses and how they are murdered. Sometimes you are going to cry over because- ahh, damn it!- is this totally happnening?. Sometimes you’re heart will be touched because you are going to see why the criminal did those tremendous cases and you’ll end up pondering; we are all totally a victim of this tremendous world.
P.S. My favorite case the InJoo Rape Case, I know you are wondering so watch it please. Please.
3. Descendants of the Sun
I know this is a total cliche but I like this drama, not because of the love story or the handsome face of the lead character. I love this because of what the writer is trying to imply, how someone is dedicated of the profession he had acquired and how they are trying to tell us that what can made the world better, but US, being passionate with our role in the society. This also modeled how nationalistic and patriotic Koreans are, and maybe we can get through this what are the effect of being dedicated to the country are; A better world.
4. W- Two Worlds
I can’t say much of this but I love this to bravely try the parallel universe type of plot twist. It is a very good one, it will drive you nuts wondering what will going to happen next, and you have to remember that two worlds are connected in this story. You’ll die of cliffhanger.
